    What a privilege to serve as pastor to the people of Barnesville First United Methodist

    Church and the surrounding community. My husband Kim and I were born in Alabama. Even so,

    we have lived in Georgia longer than we have lived anywhere else, moving here in 1984 shortly

    after we married.


    My full-time ministry began in 2009 when I answered my call from God. Prior to my

    time in ministry, I enjoyed a 20-year career in broadcasting, including five years at CNN, and 12

    years at Fox 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. You might say I am still telling stories. Now I share the

    greatest story ever told, the story of a Savior who loves us, and longs to be in relationship with

    us.

    Jan Baker has led the handbell choirs since January 1995. Originally from Philadelphia, she married her high school sweetheart, Jeff Baker. They have three daughters and three grandsons.

    I’m a proud graduate of Gordon State College, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. My educational background has helped shape the way I serve and support both our church community and the people around me.

    Outside of work, I’m a devoted parent to two wonderful children who are the greatest joys in my life. They continually inspire me and remind me of the importance of love, patience, and faith. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve in a place where I can combine my professional experience with my passion for helping others grow in their walk with Christ.
